This update is over 30 days old.

There are hundreds of students who have lost literally everything.

Many Garland ISD students who lost their home in the tornado are now homeless. Their parents need to contact the District liaison for the homeless at 972-494-8255. Also, in order to replace items needed for school (uniforms, school supplies, etc.), they can go to Student Services (720 Stadium Dr. Garland 75040, next to Williams Stadium between First St. and Glenbrook Dr.) on Monday to pick up items they need. In the student services building there is The Giving Place where these students can get these items for free.

If you're wanting to donate items for these students, you may go to the Student Services building (720 Stadium Dr. Garland 75040, next to Williams Stadium between First St. and Glenbrook Dr.) on Saturday as early as 10:00am.

They will be needing toiletries (soap, shampoo, shaving cream, razors, tooth brushes/tooth paste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc), all school supplies, shoes (any kind of shoes for kids), and uniforms.

If you donate uniforms, they need to be the approved type of uniforms that are sold at Levines Department Stores. There are two locations: 511 W. Jefferson Blvd. Dallas 75208, and at Square 67, 2550 W. Red Bird Ln. #100 Dallas, TX 75237. I know you can also get the uniforms at WalMart, but please don't just buy anything from there because they have to be approved. If you'd prefer to buy at WalMart, perhaps you can ask at Student Services before purchasing.

School starts in a week. Let's get things ready for these kids to have what they need when school starts on Tuesday.
